Congratulations to Our MSDBC
President
Trophy Charmayne S. Dierker Trophy

The MSDBC Board is pleased to announce that Charmayne Dierker, our president and co-founder, was the recipient of the 1998 "Women Helping Women" award from the local Maryland Chapter of the Soroptimist Club. She was presented with a plaque at one of their recent meetings which came to her as a complete surprise. (She thought she was invited to give a talk about MSDBC and was unaware of this award until it was presented!) Way to go, Charmayne!

Lillie Shockney, our Vice President, co-founder of MSDBC, and Charmayne Dierker's daughter, is also going to be receiving an award. She was selected to be one of three national recipients of the "Circle of Life" award from Shape Magazine and the National Race for the Cure. She was selected in recognition for the extraordinary work she does with breast cancer patients, both professionally and personally. Lillie, a 6 yr breast cancer survivor, will be presented with this award at the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's National Race for the Cure which will be held the first weekend in June in Washington, D.C. She and her mom, Charmayne, were photographed recently for an article that will feature them in the June issue of Shape Magazine. So make note of it to check it out!!
